Peter Pan

'Second to the right, and then straight on till morning'

Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, sprang from the stories that JM Barrie acted out with the five young sons of his close friends, the Llewelyn Davies. These skits evolved into the tale of the magical Peter, who flies in at the Darling family's nursery window and takes siblings Wendy, John and Michael on a fantastical flight to Neverland – where fairies, pirates and Red Indians all coexist.

When JM Barrie died in 1937, he left the copyright of Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, who continue to benefit from a special Act of Parliament that entitles the Hospital to royalty payments in perpetuity.
